A sunset view of the Superstition Mountains from Gold Canyon. This photo also marked my first painful interaction with our local succulents. The “Jumping Cactus” doesn’t actually jump, but its spines attach so easily to passing fur, clothing, or skin that they seem to leap out at you. In my case, it wasn’t the cactus in front of me that was the issue but the broken-off piece on the ground next to me that proved problematic.
