Found at the Phoenix Zoo, these are two Mexican Wolves. These wolves are considered to be the most distinct genetically of all the wolf species as well as the smallest. Nearly eliminated from the wild due to over hunting the Mexican Wolf was placed on the endangered species list in 1976 and has been making a comeback thanks to breeding and reintroduction programs.
