Antelope Canyon is located in northern Arizona, east of Page, within the Navajo Nation. This stunning slot canyon was formed over thousands of years by flash flooding and wind erosion, which carved the smooth, flowing sandstone walls into the narrow, twisting passageways seen today. Seasonal monsoon rains rush through the canyon, deepening and sculpting its curves while depositing and removing sand from the floor. The Navajo people, who have inhabited the region for centuries, historically used the canyon for shelter and spiritual purposes. They viewed it as a sacred place, believing its walls held a connection to nature’s power and harmony. Today, the Navajo continue to protect Antelope Canyon, offering guided tours that share its cultural significance and natural history with visitors from around the world.
