On our fourth and final day, we definitely made the most of it. We started by getting our return to the US COVID tests at a local Pharmacy and then headed out to Johnston Canyon to hike and see the waterfalls. Johnston Canyon was formed over 1000’s years as the water flowed over and eventually through the surrounding rock. There are a couple of primary levels to Johnston Canyon. There are the lower falls located about 1 kilometer from the entrance and the upper falls situated 2.6 kilometers from the entrance. The path is mostly paved and allows numerous vantage points from which to see the different falls as you progress. Taylor had heard of these things called the Ink Pots which were located at the terminus of the trail and quite a bit farther along. So after more hiking, most of which was a mud/snow-covered, maddeningly long incline we reached the Ink Pots. These are 7 pools of water that are colored a brilliant bluish-green color thanks to the minerals in the water. The Ink Pots also sit along the flowing waters of Johnston Creek which provides the water for the falls below.
