Lunar Eclipse

Tonight we were greeted with a full moon and a partial lunar eclipse at the same time. This compilation of events meant we were seeing the longest partial lunar eclipse in over 500 years.

Hollywood Nights

Sitting on approximately 3000 acres of donated land overlooking downtown Los Angeles, the Griffith Park Observatory first opened in 1935 and sees 1.6 million visitors every year. The observatory contains numerous exhibits and more than 7 million people have viewed the universe through it’s 12 inch Zeiss refractor telescope, more than any other telescope in the world. Given its Hollywood Hills setting it’s no surprise that the observatory has featured prominently in numerous tv and movie productions including multiple Terminator movies, San Andreas and La La Land.
