Prickly Pear Mesa

This photo was taken on a mesa that is found at the end of the Secret Slick Rock trail. The trail is short, flat and opens up on the mesa which overlooks the Crescent Moon Picnic site with a spectacular view of Cathedral Rock in the background.

The Dragonfly

One advantage of working 3pm to 3am is that I tend to be up most of the night whether I’m working or not. Friday night into Saturday morning I stayed up all night thinking I would just head out and get some early morning shots of the moon. After that was done I wasn’t tired so I decided to venture out to Butcher Jones Recreation Area along Saguaro Lake and hike the Butcher Jones Trail. This is a relatively easy out and back hike and at its’ furthest point overlooks the lake. It was here that I noticed this singular Dragonfly sitting on a branch and, not having a proper taco lens, decided to use my telephoto to get as close as possible without disturbing it.
