I’m trying to break out of hiking my usual trails and as such went hiking in Thunderbird Conservation Park in north Phoenix. The park incorporates the Hedgepeth Hills, named after an early homesteader that settled in the area. The name Thunderbird comes from a WW2 pilot training facility located 4 miles south of the park. Hosting biking, hiking, and horseback riding, the park claims approximately 15miles of multi-use trails.
